Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese therapy that involves the use of a smooth tool, such as a Chinese soup spoon or an actual Gua Sha massage tool, which is rubbed or scraped down lubricated skin along or against muscles or energetic channels. This action:
- Releases physical conditions caused by excess trapped heat in the area
- Moves energetic “stagnant blood” (not blood clots) and Qi or energy
- Increases the ability of the blood, lymph, nutrients and energy to move throughout the channels
- Enhances the immune system
- Decreases inflammation
… thus enhancing the healing ability in the area where it is used.
We use Gua Sha in cases of :
- Facial Edema
- Trigger Points/Muscle Knots
- Tendonitis
